it’s january 15th and we are in the final days of the biden administration. the president has given his farewell address and is wrapping up his term. that orange man in preparing to take office, and with majorities in both chambers of congress, he has a pretty clear path to do anything he wants to do. right now he is going through the process of confirming his nominations for the various cabinet positions, and the unseriousness of the candidates and the gop senators participating is reaching a level that i hadn’t really imagined possible, which is both incredibly disappointing but also not terribly surprising at the same time.

meanwhile los angeles is on fire and in the midst of all this tragedy and suffering, the gop is on foxnews trying to argue for conditions to be put on california getting federal aid, in spite of how much california contributes to federal coffers.
